Andong Hahoe Village, located in Pungcheon-myeon, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is a Joseon Dynasty yangban (noble) village nestled within a unique landscape, surrounded by the Nakdong River. Formed in the early 14th century, it has preserved the quintessential culture, architecture, and traditions of the Joseon yangban for over 600 years.
Hahoe Village is a clan village of the Pungsan Ryu clan, and its descendants still reside there, making it a living heritage site. Traditional Joseon-era architecture, including traditional hanok (tile-roofed houses), thatched-roof houses, shrines, Confucian academies, and pavilions, is well preserved. The village reflects the Confucian social structure of Joseon and is designed in the shape of a lotus or a Taegeuk symbol, in accordance with feng shui principles.
