Daejeong Gotjawal Provincial Park is a nature reserve located in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Island. It was created to preserve Jeju’s unique primeval forest ecosystem, known as Gotjawal. “Gotjawal” refers to a forest of trees, vines, and rocks growing intertwined, creating a unique ecological environment found only on Jeju Island.
The park boasts a rare natural ecosystem where tropical and temperate plants coexist, and features five trails. Most of the trails are unpaved, so comfortable hiking shoes are recommended. Along the trails, you’ll encounter a variety of plants, insects, and birds, and admire the diverse volcanic rock formations and unique geological formations of Jeju.
