도담삼봉
Dodamsambong Peaks (Dodamsambong Peaks) is a famous Korean Peninsula landmark located at 644-33 Sambong-ro, Maepo-eup, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. It consists of three towering rock peaks in the middle of the Namhan River.
The three rocks are named Janggunbong (Large Rock, Husband Rock), Cheobong (Rock of the Concubine Seeking Favor), and Cheobong (Rock of the Turning Wife).
A wealth of folk tales and legends draw tourists to the area. It is said that Jeong Do-jeon, a renowned scholar and poet, loved this area so much that he named it “Sambong.”
At the top of Janggunbong Peak stands Samdojeong, a traditional pavilion offering a scenic view. Surrounded by musical fountains, it offers visitors a place to relax and enjoy the scenery day and night.
The surrounding area of Dodamsambong Peaks features walking trails, rest areas, and a cruise ship dock, making it an ideal destination for sightseeing and nature exploration. It’s easily accessible, and conveniently located for visiting other nearby attractions like Seokmun, Gosu Cave, and Ondal Tourist Site. One of the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang, it has inspired many poets and painters to create their works.
