정동전망대
Jeongdong Observatory is a free observatory located on the 13th floor of the Seoul City Hall Seosomun Building at 15 Deoksugung-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul.
From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of Seoul’s historical and modern landmarks, including Deoksugung Palace, the Seoul City Hall area, Gwanghwamun, and the Blue House.
Location and Access
*Approximately a 3-minute walk from Exit 12 or Exit 1 of City Hall Station (Seoul Subway Lines 1 and 2).
*Located on the 13th floor of the Seoul City Hall Seosomun Annex, accessible by elevator.
Key Features
*Panoramic views of the Deoksugung Palace area, where the old and new coexist, as well as Seoul Plaza, Seoul City Hall, Jeongdong-gil, Gwanghwamun, and parts of Cheonggyecheon Stream.
*Inside the observatory is the cafe “Cafe Darak,” where you can relax with coffee and other beverages.
*The cafe walls are decorated with photos and exhibits depicting the old Jeongdong area, adding a historical touch.
*Open weekdays 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM, weekends and public holidays 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (closed if a public holiday falls on a weekday).
Visit Tips
*A great place to admire the autumn foliage and snow-covered scenery around Deoksugung Palace in fall and winter.
*A window-side bar table is ideal for taking photos or simply enjoying the Seoul cityscape.
*Be sure to check the location and operating hours of the dedicated elevator before visiting.
