Maltijae Observatory, located in Boeun County, North Chungcheong Province, opened in 2020.
From this observatory, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the winding mountain paths and forests surrounding Maltijae Pass, a scenic natural landscape renowned for its autumn foliage.
The observatory is particularly impressive during fall foliage season, offering a panoramic view of the vibrant red and yellow leaves. It’s also a popular spot for sunset views.
Maltijae holds deep historical significance, as it is said to have served as the crossing point for King Taejo of the Goryeo Dynasty and King Sejo of the Joseon Dynasty, who crossed Songnisan Mountain.
Around the observatory are exhibition spaces and a café, offering opportunities for relaxation and cultural experiences.
The 12-bend winding course is popular among cyclists and bike enthusiasts, offering a healing space where visitors can enjoy both nature and history.
