The MMCA (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea) stands for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
As the leading national museum of modern and contemporary art in South Korea, it primarily exhibits modern and contemporary art and has branches in Gwacheon, Seoul, Deoksugung, and Cheongju.
The Seoul branch, which opened in 2013, is located in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, near Gyeongbokgung Palace. Its traditional aesthetic blends with modern architecture. Featuring exhibition spaces, a digital information center, a multi-project hall, a theater, and educational spaces, the Seoul branch hosts a variety of contemporary art exhibitions and cultural events.
The MMCA showcases both Korean and international contemporary art, serving as a cultural platform for engaging with the public through diverse exhibitions, educational programs, and performances. The Seoul branch is located near Anguk Station on Subway Line 3. Admission fees vary by exhibition, but are generally low or free.
