Oedolgae (Oedolgae Sea Stack) is a unique, pillar-shaped rock formation rising from a 20-meter-tall sea cliff on the southern coast of Seogwipo City, Jeju Island.
Formed approximately 1.5 million years ago by volcanic activity and coastal wave erosion, this natural monument is one of Jeju’s most iconic coastal attractions.
Oedolgae is a famous filming location for the drama “Dae Jang Geum” and is also the starting point of Course 7 of the Jeju Olle Trail, making it a popular trekking destination.
It is nestled amidst sea caves and rock formations along the coastline, and offers a pleasant walking path alongside the nearby Sammaebong Peak.
Pine needles, resembling human hair, grow on the rock’s summit, and according to legend, Oedolgae is also famous for the sad story of a grandmother who turned into a rock while waiting for her husband.
The sunset and waves seen from the surrounding coastline are a truly moving experience for visitors.
