Seokpajeong (Seokpajeong), located in Buam-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, is the villa of Heungseon Daewongun during the Joseon Dynasty. It is a beautiful house that harmoniously blends traditional hanok (traditional Korean house) and Chinese architectural styles.
With a history spanning over 200 years, Heungseon Daewongun (1820-1898), the father of King Gojong of Joseon, loved the place so much that he even used it as a temporary palace.
Seokpajeong was designated as Seoul Tangible Cultural Property No. 26 in 1974 and is currently managed by the Seoul Museum of Art. It operates as a cultural space that combines traditional architecture and modern art.
