Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong) is a volcanic crater located on the eastern coast of Jeju Island, South Korea, rising 182 meters above sea level.
Commonly known as “Ilchulbong Peak,” it is renowned as the best spot to view the sunrise on Jeju Island. Formed approximately 5,000 years ago by the collision of lava and seawater, the tuff cone is a hydrovolcanic edifice. At its summit, a crater measuring approximately 600 meters in diameter and 90 meters deep creates a unique geological beauty.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak was designated a National Natural Monument in 2000,
and in 2007, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List of “Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes,” demonstrating its exceptional natural and geological value.
