The Secret Garden, commonly known as the “Secret Garden” or “Biwon (秘苑)” in the rear garden of Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, is one of the finest traditional gardens of the Joseon Dynasty, built for royal relaxation and banquets.
Expanding an expansive area of approximately 446,000 square meters, the garden was created to reflect the rugged terrain of the Bukaksan Mountains. Its harmonious blend of ponds, pavilions, and traditional Korean architecture showcases the essence of traditional Korean landscaping. Notable ponds include Buyongji Pond, Aeryeonji Pond, Jangbangji Pond, and Banwolji Pond, topped by beautiful pavilions like Buyongjeong Pavilion.
The Secret Garden is restricted to the public and must be accessed via guided tour. Tours last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and require advance reservations.

*Hours: March-October 10:00-16:00 (admission every hour), November-February 10:00-15:00
*Admission: Adults 5,000 won, Youths 2,500 won (excluding Changdeokgung Palace admission)
