The Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Namyang is a Catholic martyrdom site located in Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
It is where many martyrs were sacrificed during the Byeongin Persecution of 1866.
It was officially declared a shrine on October 7, 1991, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, becoming the first official Marian shrine recognized by the Catholic Church in Korea.
Designed by world-renowned architect Mario Botta, the shrine embodies the hope for peace, reconciliation, and the unification of North and South Korea.
The cathedral can accommodate approximately 1,500 people and consists of two towers, eight chapels, and an outdoor prayer space.
Set amidst a vast natural landscape, the shrine is ideal for relaxation and strolling. Its purpose is not only to worship but also to pray for peace, reconciliation, and unification.
The surrounding area features a pilgrimage path, a sculpture park, and spaces for meditation, offering spiritual solace to visitors.
