울릉도
Ulleungdo (Ulleungdo) is a volcanic island located approximately 120km from the Korean mainland in the East Sea.
Formed by a volcanic eruption, Ulleungdo boasts a unique landscape with steep coastal cliffs and unique rock formations. Seonginbong Peak, 984 meters high, rises in the center of the island.
The island is home to rare plants and animals, earning it the nickname “Korea’s Galapagos.” It is also renowned for its pristine nature and seafood, particularly squid.
The main transportation to Ulleungdo is by ferry from ports along the east coast, including Gangneung, Mukho, Hupo, and Pohang.
Access by air will also be possible with the opening of Ulleungdo Airport, scheduled for completion in 2028.
With its unique volcanic topography, deep sea, and sheer cliffs, Ulleungdo is considered one of Korea’s most mysterious and wild islands.
