Yangjae Citizen’s Forest is an urban forest park located at 99 Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Created in 1986, it is a rare lush forested space in Seoul.
Originally named “Yangjae Citizen’s Forest,” it was renamed “Maeheon Citizen’s Forest” in October 2022 to honor independence activist Yun Bong-gil.
The park also features historically significant memorials, including the Maeheon Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, the Battle of Baekmagoji Monument, the Korean Air Flight 858 Memorial, and the Sampoong Department Store Accident Victims Memorial.
Family-friendly amenities include a children’s playground, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, and a barefoot walking trail.
The park is particularly beautiful during the cherry blossom and fall foliage seasons, and the lotus flowers blooming along both sides of the Yeouicheon Stream make it a popular wedding venue.
Photos taken from the bridge offer unparalleled beauty.
Located approximately a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yangjae Citizen’s Forest Station on the Shinbundang Line, the park offers excellent accessibility. The park’s roads and trails are flat, making it wheelchair-friendly.
Admission is free and it’s open year-round, allowing visitors to enjoy the park at any time.
Yeouicheon Stream is directly accessible from Exit 1 of Yangjae Citizen’s Forest Station on the Shinbundang Line, along with the cherry blossom path.
